The previous owner tried to clean something off the front of the guitar and scratched a spot about 3" square in the finish. Better with a thin (.001 - .005) feeler gauge than a syringe - the glue's too thick to pass through the small hole in the end, let alone a needle, and the feeler gauge will allow you to carefully push the glue into the (opened up as far as is safe) crack and spread it about.
